The simple circuit shown can be used to indicate RF in any homebrew rig, the presence of which causes the LED to illuminate.

The centre of the coax to the antenna socket passes through a small ferrite ring and two or three turns of stiff wire go to a panel mounted LED.

Simple but useful, especially when there is no room for a meter.
